Panelists to Share Religious Perspectives at SCF Interfaith Dialogue

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host representatives from six religious traditions for an Interfaith Dialogue 3-4:30 p.m. Apr. 11 in Together Manatee Community Room 143, Library and Learning Center, SCF Bradenton 5840 26th St. W. The event is free and open to the public.

Have you ever asked, what are essential teachings of a religion other than your own? How does each religion understand other religions? How does a religion define a believer’s role in society? The Interfaith Dialogue, sponsored by the SCF Bradenton Diversity, Multicultural Awareness Committee and the Art, Design, and Humanities Department, invites participants to discuss these questions and others.

Panelists include:

  • Mr. Shiraz Hassan, Board member of Islamic Society of Sarasota and Bradenton (Islam – Sunni);
  • Swami Ishtananda, Minister and Spiritual Head of the Vendanta Center of St. Petersburg, FL (Hinduism – Vedanta);
  • Rev. Brock Leach (Unitarian Universalists),
  • Ms. Rena Morano, Rabbinic Associate at Congregation Ner Tamid (Judaism – Reform);
  • Ms. Anika Transick, educational director of the Kadampa Meditation Center (Buddhism – Kadampa) and
  • Rev. Larry Williams, the 201 Church of Christ (Protestantism).
